4G LTE is a mobile telecommunications technology that provide high speed data connectivity to data enabled devices. So if you thought the 3G network on your mobile device was fast, wait till you try browsing on a 4G mobile network.
A lot of people are excited about the 4G LTE network that was recently launched in Nigeria by MTN, GLO, ETISALAT and NTEL and in Ghana by and MTN, however not all devices will support 4G LTE. So when purchasing a new smart phone ask for a 4G LTE enabled smartphone that runs on band 800/1800/2100/2600MHz frequency.
This is because GSM Networks operate LTE services on different band frequencies.
Below the supported band frequencies of GSM networks in Nigeria;
1. NTEL -- supports band 3(1800) and 8(900)Mhz
2. MTN 4G -- supports band 7(2600MHz) and 20 (800MHz)
3. Glo 4G -- supports band 28 (700MHz)
4. Etisalat 4G -- supports LTE band 3 (1800)MHz
Therefore to use 4G LTE Network, youll need to buy a phone that supports the LTE Bands listed above.
