Last September, Apple unveiled its flagship iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, for the first time enclosed in a waterproof enclosure with an IP67 certification. As it became known, this year the company plans to increase the waterproof properties of their smartphones.
Now the owner of Apple smartphone could without fear briefly submerge the iPhone 7 in water up to 1 m. That is, gadgets water resistant, but not waterproof. Predecessors, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, without consequences experienced dive under the water, but now Apple has officially confirmed the resistance of their gadgets.
2017 is a jubilee year for the iPhone, the smartphone was 10 years since the release of the first device. According to available information, Apple plans to introduce three models: the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7s Plus that will keep the old design, but will update filling, and also iPhone 8, dressed in a case with steel frame and OLED display. All three devices will receive protection from water infiltration and dust according to IP68 certificate.
Thus, the owners of the next-generation iPhone will not be afraid to immerse the device in water to a depth of 1 m for 30 minutes. This means that iPhone 8 can be used for underwater photography.
The source indicates that Apples main rival, Samsung, in the upcoming flagship Galaxy S8 will adhere to the same standard IP68. In addition, the South Korean company decided to distribute waterproof case up to budget J-series, and even released a few protected from water new products in A-line.
