Apple iPhone 8 will replace aluminum on stainless steel
Apple iPhone 8 will replace aluminum on stainless steel
Apple intends to abandon aluminum in favor of stainless steel in the manufacture of the chassis of the iPhone 8. This was reported Tuesday by Taiwanese industry publication DigiTimes.
The last time Apple used stainless steel in the iPhone 4s, then switched to aluminum alloy. The company was able to reduce the weight of their devices, but in 2014 it was discovered pitfalls: iPhone 6 Plus in a thin case was prone to deformation. In the next model iPhone 6s Plus, Apple switched to a more durable 7000 series aluminum, which was also used in the Apple Watch.
Return to steel does not mean the use of old processes. It is expected that in 2017 Apple will release three versions of the iPhone: two updated models with 4.7 and 5.5-inch display with the letter S in the name, and one top iPhone 8 with a screen diagonal of 5 inches.
Information on the transition to stainless steel corresponds to the previously received information about the design of a new generation of smartphones Apple. In particular, network sources expect a radical redesign of the group. Such features as display in a full-front panel glass housing and the lack of a physical Home button, seriously upgrade iPhone 8 from the point of view of functionality and design.
It is also known that the novelty may get a curved display and will charge wirelessly. In addition to speculation about the design of the iPhone 8, it is reported that the camera and the Touch ID sensor will be placed on the front panel of the device.
