Google Maps wheelchair accessible locations now listed

Thanks to feedback from users, Google Maps can now indicate whether or not a place is accessible to people traveling in a wheelchair.

A new feature useful for people with disabilities has just appeared on Google Maps. The mapping service of the American giant now makes it possible to know if a place is accessible or not in wheelchair.
Originally this new feature: Rio Akasaka, responsible for product at Google, who took the famous "20% rule" allowing employees the search giant to spend 20% of their working time to a "external" project.
Unfortunately, information is only available for a few institutions, mainly in the United States, but this should change over time as accessibility data comes from users. After visiting some places, they are in fact called upon to rule on the question: "Are there an accessible entrance in a wheelchair? ".
The results of these surveys are available in the information sheets of the institutions, in the "Equipment" section. But given the low number of supported places, it is better for the moment in any case continue to use other more comprehensive services such as Wheelmap.org, available on iOS and Android .
