VR & AR Ecosystem Map Team Vision for the Ongoing Project

As we digest mass amount of daily VR & AR related news feeds from Facebook, Twitter, blogs, news outlets and etc…  We had stumbled upon various well-designed and fantastic VR & AR directories, database and indexes, however, we had the urge to build our own database the way we like it to be.  We have tried our best to place each VR & AR company and startup into a category that best fits.

Our vision is for this VR & AR Ecosystem Map to be a complimentary tool to the VR & AR database available today, together, users will be able to learn, research about VR & AR.  Startups will be able to gain more exposure and become more accessible to VR & AR-passionate and enthusiastic people from outside the VR & AR industry.  This is an ongoing project, we will try our best to update the database, and we do welcome any suggestion, partnership proposal, and banner space inquiries.  However, please understand that we are a small team, but we’ll try our best to make this VR & AR global database an user-friendly and well-structured tool!

Cheers and see you inside,

Oculus Opens Social Doors for Gear VR

Oculus Opens Social Doors for Gear VR

Oculus VR this week launched Oculus Social for Samsungs Gear VR viewer.

Gear VR users can create profiles on Oculus Social and search out friends via real names or handles.

The company, which has yet to ship its own virtual reality headset, also released two social games to encourage more friending on Oculus Social: Herobound: Gladiators and Social Trivia.

In Herobound: Gladiators, players team up to take arms in a clash between demons and goblins in the fighting pits of arena battlefields. Social Trivia sits friends down at a virtual table and pits their wits against each other in a classic game of know-it-all.

Oculus Social also has been upgraded to allow users to create rooms in which they can hang out with friends in the virtual space, watching content such as Twitch streams or Facebook videos.

The team deployed a Facebook Video tab in Oculus Social. Next week, the company will give users the ability to sync their Facebook and Oculus Social profiles so that they can personalize their feeds of 360 video content.

Weeks from now, Oculus Social will support the liking and sharing of Facebook 360 videos.

Social Society

Parent company Facebook has been planning to use Oculus Social to change the inherently exclusionary nature of VR, according to Charles King, principal analyst for Pund-IT.

"First, the company indicated that Oculus users will be able to share space in VR, interacting socially, chatting, watching films and competing in trivia games," he told TechNewsWorld. "Second, the company announced a multiplayer game service that appears to make use of some social features, though details on that appear sketchy."

Social experiences might be what VR needs to establish itself firmly in the mainstream. It can be difficult to sell VR experience via the flat screens and 2D images the world has known for decades.

VR is definitely a new era, said Stephanie Llamas, VR lead at SuperData.

The firm recently updated its forecast for VR and found that experiences like the ones Gear VR provides will bring in US$1.8 billion in revenue from hardware and software sales by the end of next year. The mobile VR market will swell to roughly $4.5 billion the year after that.

"Rather than consider it a hardware peripheral, we should be looking at it as a standalone hardware device just like TV or computers," Llamas told TechNewsWorld. "This is the beginning of a completely new way to consume media -- at least once adoption reaches critical mass."
Sewn Together

VRs progression appears to be more of a continuation of current trends than a fork in the road, Pund-ITs King said.

"Virtual reality technology has been around in one form or another for the better part of three decades, and much of what Facebook and Oculus are doing is derivative of those past efforts," he said. "But multiplayer online gaming and immersive social experiences also have a lengthy history."

Multiplayer games have long allowed players to communicate with one another to discuss strategy, King reasoned. In the case of immersive social experiences, the industry saw that take off with the launch of Second Life more than a decade ago.

"With Oculus Social, Facebook appears to be taking some pages from these past efforts and spinning them with a VR slant," he said. "Itll be interesting to see what the company comes up with thats actually new, and whether it can avoid the pitfalls and mistakes that tripped up others.

PlayStation VR will transport with a 8 diversion demo plate

PlayStation VR will transport with a 8 diversion demo plate

me of you might be excessively youthful, making it impossible to recollect, however back in the late 90s to ahead of schedule/mid 2000s, organizations used to put out demo circles. These generally contained a decent assortment of titles for a particular console or from specific distributers. They were an extraordinary path for people to experience what they would get tied up with. It appears that demo plates arent totally a relic of days gone by as Sony will pack one into its up and coming PlayStation VR fringe.

As should be obvious from the exhibition and portrayals beneath, the PlayStation VR demo circle will have a decent assortment of titles to test. Despite the fact that the PlayStation VR unit costs $400, it really costs more than that when you incorporate other fundamental things like Move controllers and the PlayStation Camera. Regardless of how you cut it, purchasing a PlayStation VR isnt shabby, so having a demo plate is an incredible approach to guarantee purchasers that their well deserved cash wasnt squandered.

Battlezone

The exemplary Atari diversion is renewed in VR. Like the first Battlezone, you take control of a tank that needs to pulverize different tanks. The primary individual point of view of the first works incredible in VR, and with the new, adapted representation, the diversion has genuinely been brought into the cutting edge age. Battlezone will test players perseverance with exceptional VR encounters.

<><>

DriveClub VR

The title is clear as crystal. DriveClub was initially intended to just be playable in first individual, so making it into a VR amusement is a characteristic fit. This is likewise one of the most attractive hustling titles on consoles, which will make it an extraordinary showcase for what VR can do. This ought to be one of the highlights of the demo.

EVE: Valkyrie

In case youre into space battle amusements then youre going to love EVE: Valkyrie. This was one of the principal amusements accessible on VR gadgets so it was just fitting that it would come to PlayStation VR. This is another outwardly staggering title intended to show what VR is about. The individuals who were disillusioned with the oversimplified space clashes of No Mans Sky will be satisfied with this one.

Dean

This one is effortlessly the most abnormal diversion on the demo. In Headmaster, players must utilize their heads to hit a soccer ball to score focuses. As things advancement, scoring will turn out to be all the more difficult as the diversion hurls in more snags to stop you. In case youre into overwhelming metal music and are accustomed to headbanging then this diversion might be straight up your back street. For other people, it might turn out to be a strict undeniable irritation.

PlayStation VR Worlds - Ocean Descent

Sea Descent is one of five "encounters" that will be a part of the full PlayStation VR Worlds diversion. Here, youll get the opportunity to investigate a submerged world loaded with creature life and risk. Contingent upon how frightened you are of being submerged, this may serve as a survival-repulsiveness diversion. The individuals who dont have that particular fear ought to be in for a visual gala with this demo.

RIGS Mechanized Combat League

This has been a most loved for anybody that has attempted PlayStation VR. In this focused games diversion, you pilot a mech robot that you should overcome nets keeping in mind the end goal to score. The contradicting group will attempt to stop you by utilizing skirmish assaults and guns. The experience is said to be amazingly bad-to-the-bone, so this may test ones breaking points with VR innovation.

Tumble VR

Initially on the PlayStation 3, Tumble VR resemble a virtual session of Jenga. Players stack squares to make towers, use them to manufacture connects, and even take part in some riddle tackling. In spite of the fact that the VR head protector is for stand out individual, a second player can take an interest utilizing a controller because of center mode. Tumble VR has the makings to be a fun party diversion.

Wayward Sky

Wayward Sky is not the same as most VR recreations out there. The primary concern that helps it emerge is that it isnt generally in first individual mode. While investigating, players will see their character on-screen. The purpose behind that is on account of this title is an experience amusement. Rather than a mouse bolt, players will utilize their heads to take a gander at things they need to interface with. Wayward Sky switches to first individual when explaining confuses, nonetheless.

Before the years over, Sony arrangements to discharge about 50 titles for PlayStation VR. The organization is obviously putting a considerable measure of exertion into this VR wander, however it stays to be checked whether gatherings of people will at last stick it out with VR. All things considered, it has been accounted for that offers of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have slowed down. This could be seen as a terrible sign for the PlayStation VR, however it could likewise imply that people are holding up to purchase the similarly cheap Sony unit.

The eventual fate of VR is still not yet decided, yet we ought to have a superior comprehension of the general condition of VR before the years over.

Googles Cardboard May Help Build Strong VR Foundation

Googles Cardboard May Help Build Strong VR Foundation

google-cardboard-virtual-reality
During its annual developers conference held last week, Google I/O, the company revealed its latest effort to drive development of Cardboard VR apps and spur the growth of VR content across YouTube. Google has released blueprints for VR headsets made of cardboard and encouraged third parties to bring their best designs to market. Several are available for purchase with a "Works with Google Cardboard" badge, meaning theyre compatible with Cardboard apps.
Users with some arts-and-crafts chops can create their own. The idea is simple, according to Clay Bavor, vice president of product management at Google. After constructing the simple cardboard headset, users simply slot their smartphones into the contraptions -- and voila: They get a VR experience for about US$20.
"Cardboard is about making it possible for anyone to check out virtual reality experiences with their smartphone," Bavor told TechNewsWorld. "Combined with the Cardboard SDKs, we want to make it possible for anyone to develop new VR apps or add to their existing apps."

Going Pro

A number of dedicated VR headsets have been priced around $400.
Oculus VR would like to offer its virtual reality headset and a gaming PC bundled for an "all-in" price of about US$1,500, which is meant to be a bargain.
Along with making a case to justify the equipment price tags, developers of VR hardware have been faced with the challenge of ensuring theres enough content to attract early adopters.
During I/O 2015, Google revealed how it intends to generate a trove of VR content for Cardboard and make money doing so.
Google has partnered with action camera manufacturer GoPro to develop Jump, a 16-camera rig that could put VR production well within reach of indie filmmakers.
"We thought itd be good if someone who really knows how to build a great camera could help us out building our Jump 16-camera rigs," Bavor said. "So we called our friends at GoPro."
Jump video camera
The 16 cameras function as one unit, allowing content creators to capture stereoscopic VR that delivers 360-degree videos with depth of field. The Jump rigs video resolution puts out about as many pixels as five 4K TVs, according to Google.
Google already owns a platform that may be perfect for the task of storing and streaming all of that video content -- YouTube. With its support for Jump videos, said to be coming soon, Google could see a bump in ad revenue.

Virtually Here

Virtual reality is coming, whatever the price. There will be 5-10 million VR headsets in the wild by next year, predicted Beck Besecker, CEO of Marxent.
While Google is offering the masses a taste of VR, a large number of consumers will want the very best of the tech, he told TechNewsWorld. Cardboard may offer an interesting use case for realtor showcases and other virtual tourism, but it may serve primarily to pique the desire for a better experience.
"I think [Cardboard] will help with the general popularity of VR," Besecker said, "but I think the folks that are really going to gravitate to VR are going to want a high-quality experience -- and gamers, specifically, wont mind paying for it."
Its long been held that gamers will drive the nascent market forward, but VR visionaries are looking to the second, third and fourth waves of virtual experience to capitalize on the technologys expansion.
That said, it might take another 24 months, Besecker suggested, before Cardboard has a meaningful impact on VR e-commerce.
