SNAPDRAGON 835 FIRST BENCHMARKS GEEKBENCH AND DISAPPOINTING SCORES

SNAPDRAGON 835 FIRST BENCHMARKS GEEKBENCH AND DISAPPOINTING SCORES

The Snapdragon 835 will be the processor that will integrate most high-end smartphones from 2017. Today, the first Geekbench benchmarks have been published. If one dwells on the processor part, the scores are disappointing. Yes, but…

CES 2017 will open in a few days. Among the announcements, those of Qualcomm are among the most awaited. The specialist micro-processors should present the Snapdragon 835 , the processor should integrate most high end smartphones in 2017.
Performance enthusiasts therefore look at the information about this processor with a keen eye. Today they will be able to get an idea of what to expect since the first benchmarks of the Snapdragon 835 from Geekbench were published.
Scores mention a chip called "Essential FIH-PM1" and that would be the Snapdragon 835. Unfortunately, the scores as processor strictly speaking are disappointing. Thus, the Snapdragon 835 shows a score of 1844 points in single core and 5426 in multi-core.
For comparison, the Kirin 960 which is integrated with Huawei Mate 9 reached 1900 points in single core and 6500 points by multi-core. This is one of the rare times a Snapdragon processor is beaten by a processor made in Huawei.

Attention however, the name of the benchmark suggests that it is a test platform. And often these platforms make it possible to test the chip to assure it more stabilities, and not to push it in its last entrenchments. There is no doubt that when the Snapdragon 835 is integrated with the high-end smartphones of 2017, the results will be different.
Finally be noted that Geekbench only calculates CPU performance while other factors are taken into account as the GPU or RAM. Other benchmarks are needed to have a real idea of ??the capabilities of the Snapdragon 835. Moreover, others were carried out some time ago, and the Snapdragon 835 is doing remarkably well.

SNAPDRAGON 835 POWERFUL 2017 PROCESSOR DETAILS ITS FEATURES

SNAPDRAGON 835 POWERFUL 2017 PROCESSOR DETAILS ITS FEATURES

In 2017, one thing is certain: the high-end will again be equipped mostly by the latest generation of Qualcomm processors, the Snapdragon 835. Although presented succinctly at the end of 2016, slides probably destined for CES 2017 appeared on the run On the net and allow us to see its features in more detail.

Qualcomm-Snapdragon-835

The year 2017 obviously promises many innovations in many areas of computing, beginning of course by our smartphones which should experience a new revolution thanks to the arrival of virtual reality and flexible screens.

But it is something that we already have: the high-end smartphones of the year will be mainly powered by the Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm formalized by the end of 2016 which has most of the sector for a long time.

However, this first announcement made in partnership with Samsung did not really clarify what this processor would be. New slides, which could be aimed at CES 2017, recovered by VideoCardz allow us to have a better view of it.

We can see a 20% performance boost will be available from the previous generation in task management, web browsing and virtual reality, one of the big issues in 2017.

The architecture big.LITTLE is preserved, making 4 hearts devoted to the most demanding tasks (games for example) when 4 other hearts are meant to accommodate common tasks. 80% of the time you will be on the last four, promising lower power battery.

The second slide reminds that the new processor is now engraved in 10nm FinFET , a gain size leaving them free manufacturers to create thinner phones or integrate larger batteries and other modules.

And of course, a smaller processor promises less power consumption, making the 2017 smartphones consume much less naturally than their predecessors. But this year, Qualcomm will face an increasingly fierce competition in the sector, especially as the Kirin 970 is preparing too .
